Welcoming you by the company’s representatives at Tbilisi International Airport and then take the car and go to the hotel to pick up the rooms.
After breakfast, you will start your excursion to the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Tbilisi is a centuries-old ancient city and therefore there are many historical monuments to visit. Today’s tour starts from the Holy Trinity Church. After the Holy Trinity, you will visit Metekhi Church, which was built in the twelfth century. Then take the mountain railway (or cable car) to Narikala fortress. From Narikala you will walk through the old town and at the same time visit colorful old Georgian houses. The tour continues in the old town, then visit the sulfur baths, known for their healing properties.
Lunch in the old town, a stroll through Shardeni and Leselidse streets. There are Georgian Orthodox churches as well as Turkish mosque, Jewish synagogue and Armenian-Gregorian church from Leselidse street side by side. This shows that the Georgians are a very hospitable and tolerant nation. It’s time to visit the Bagrationi and Sarajishvili factories. After breakfast, today’s tour begins with Anchiskhati Church (6th century), the oldest church in the city, then you will visit Sioni Church and continue in the direction of Rustaveli Avenue. Rustaveli Avenue is one of the main streets of Tbilisi. Rustaveli was the most famous writer of the twelfth century, he wrote the popular poem “The warrior in the tiger skin”. Having lunch. After lunch, visit the National Museum, located on Rustaveli Avenue. After breakfast, you will drive to Kakheti. This region is considered the winegrowing region in Georgia. Your tour in Kakheti begins with David Gareja Monastery. After David Gareja you will drive to Bodbe Monastery St. Nino is buried here. Then continue to Sighnaghi town. On the way, you can find a comfortable place and have lunch. (Take lunch boxes with you from the hotel). Sighnaghi is a small beautiful city, also called ” The city of love”. After visiting the city, visit wine cellar “Pheasant Tears”. After the delicious breakfast, your tour continues in the wine-growing region. You visit Gurjaani. In Gurjaani there are only two domed churches “Gurjaani All saints”. The journey continues to the village of Velistsikhe. There are a large number of grape varieties in this village. Here you can visit local families and have the opportunity to hear interesting stories about Georgian vines. You can also get interesting information at the local traditional wine preparation. After breakfast, you will visit the Teliani Wine Factory “Teliani Veli”. You will learn the rules for making Georgian wine in the factory and try three local types of wine. You will also have the opportunity to try Kakhetian Shoti (bread), cheese and the locally produced “Churchckhela” sweets. Then we continue towards the Gremi monastery. From Gremi you can see great views and take beautiful photos. Nekresi Monastery was founded by one of the thirteen Syrian fathers – Abibos Nekresseli. The next destination is Kvareli, wine cellar “Gvirabi”. This unique wine cellar stands in the tunnel, which is cut in real rock massifs of the Caucasian mountain range. The length of this construction is 7.7 km. You can go in for 1.2 km and visit as well as taste the wine produced in this region. Overnight and dinner in Kvareli.
After breakfast, you will visit Kvareli and its surroundings. Then visit the local wine company “Kindzmaraulis Marani”. Excursion to the factory and tasting of locally produced wines. Then to Tsinandali. Here is the museum of the great Georgian prince and writer, Aleksandre Chavchavadze, with a wonderful garden and wine cellar. After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Mtskheta. Mtskheta is now a religious center in the country. There are numerous valuable cultural monuments in Mtskheta and its surroundings. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among them is the medieval (1010-1029) Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (“Life-giving Pillar”), where the robe of Christ is buried. Jvari (cross) monastery from the 6th century. From here you can see the confluence of Mtkvari (Kura) and Aragvi. Having lunch. Then drive from Mtskheta to Shida Kartli. First, you visit the capital of this region Gori, where you visit the house museum and train car of Ioseph Stalin. Then the trip to Atenis Sioni, the most beautiful church in this region. Then visit the local winemaker in Uplistsikhe and try some of the wines that are popular in this region. Such as Goruli Mcvane, Chinuri and others. After tasting the wines, visit the nearby cave town of Uplistsikhe. Uplistsikhe was founded in the Bronze Age and is one of the oldest settlements of mankind and was once an important trading metropolis for the Silk Road.
